Delete your Heirloom account

Delete your account in the app

• Open Heirloom and sign in.
• Tap your profile picture at the top left to open Settings.
• Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account, then confirm.

Can't open the app? Email privacy@getheirloomapp.com from the address on your account and ask us to delete it. We'll confirm by email.

What is deleted

• Your sign-in account, name, and email address.
• Your membership in every family, so you no longer appear to other members.
• Your notification settings and the push notification tokens for your devices.
• If you are the only member of a family, that family's prompts and recorded stories are deleted too.

What is kept

• Stories in families you share with others stay with those families, so recordings aren't lost for everyone else. If you want your own recordings removed as well, delete them first (see below), or email us and we'll remove them.
• Purchase records are kept by Apple, Google, and our subscription provider RevenueCat for as long as tax and financial laws require.
• Firestore backups are kept for up to 7 days, and analytics and crash data for up to 26 months, then deleted automatically.
• Copies you made yourself with Back Up Stories (for example in Google Drive or iCloud Drive) are yours and are not affected.

We complete any remaining deletion within 30 days of your request.

Your subscription

Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription you bought through Google Play or the App Store. Cancel it first in Google Play › Payments & subscriptions, or on iPhone in Settings › your name › Subscriptions.

Delete stories or prompts without deleting your account

• A story: press and hold it in a storyteller's profile or the Memory Timeline (or open it and tap ⋯), then tap Delete Memory. The recording is permanently deleted. You can delete stories you recorded, and hosts can delete any story in their family.
• A prompt: hosts can press and hold a prompt and tap Delete Prompt.
• Leave a family: viewers can press and hold the family on Home and tap Leave.
